Kokomama Marketplace: Salted Egg Yolk Croissant

Credits: www.campus.com.sg

We had our simple valentine's dinner at Kokomama marketplace as JY wanted to try the salted egg yolk croissant @ $6.50! Basically, the marketplace consists of Bingsu, french bakery and the usual main course/appetizers/drinks.

The bakery section was having a promotion of buy 2 get 1 free, damn I totally regretted it after I decline the on-going promotion. Their salted egg yolk croissant is heavenly and I wouldn't mind having a few more!

Need to mind my image here if not I would have grabbed it with my bare hands...

Frankly speaking, I would rate their salted egg yolk 7/10 and the croissant for 9/10.

The salted egg cream was smooth and creamy but it kind of taste like curry and too salty in my humble opinion. However, I have a strong taste for flavour so I would rate the filling 7 out of 10 haha. As for the croissant, it was very crunchy and flavourful and it goes well with the salted egg (although it was over salty).

Moving on to my main course - BBQ unagi rice bowl @ $10.90

I did not finish my entire bowl as I am not a fan of red pepper chilli and vegetables. I managed to pick out the unagi and tamago :P In terms of worthiness, I would recommend this dish as it is only priced at $10.90 and you get a reasonable amount of unagi slices accompanied with Tamagoyaki.

However, I would not order this again in future as this is definitely not a dish whereby I would like to have it repeatedly.

Also, you get to choose your gravy: Chilli Crab, Curry or Mushroom.

Lesson learnt: never get the chilli crab gravy as it does not go well with unagi...

Moving on to JY's main course - Japanese Curry combo (karaage) @ $7.90

The curry gravy is decent enough for me to handle. However, their karaage is unacceptable in terms of tenderness and the skin is too thick...

Nevertheless, JY managed to finish his dish even though I find that the quality is mediocre. That's a blessing in disguise - he is easily satisfied with ANY food. Not to mention that the Japanese curry rice cost only $7.90, it would be great for those who are on tight budget yet craving for Japanese cuisine!

I'm so glad that Daily scoop is located right beside Kokomama, their Hazelnut and strawberry is soooo good! I couldn't stop myself from eating although I was bloated.

All in all, I have been making another trip down to Kokomama just to get their Kokolava salted egg croissant, priced at $6.50 only. I wouldn't try their main courses again as I would prefer to top up a few dollars more e.g. Sushi Tei or ichibanboshi to get a more scrumptious meal.

(how-i-spent-my-weekends-with-armyboy)

With my muscular man @ Koh Grill & Sushi Bar ^^

*look at his biceps*
Anyway he is my part-time fitness instructor charged at $0/hour, I'm currently obsessed with toned arms but I can't seem to discard all my cravings especially carbo food :( time for some visuals as I have lots of #foodporn to be uploaded!

The Ultimate Shiok Maki 1st Gen!

The story goes like this... (I know i'm an unreasonable girlfriend though haha) :
I mentioned about Koh Grill & Sushi Bar to JY casually, expressing my interest in their Shiok Maki although it's considered not cheap compared to Sushi Tei/Ichiban/Sakae Sushi due to the popularity. I won't forget that I mentioned this to him "I guess I can only wait for my Brother's treat for that" because I know him too well. He won't overspend for food, while I'm willing to if the quality is there. I'm well-known for splurging on food, I dont mind spending $5 on mini snacks instead of $3 on fishball noodles

& Guess what? He requested to meet at Wisma Atria and... bam. Directed me over the phone to Food Republic, I was too shocked for words when I saw him waving at me.

This. Giam. Siap. Guy. Is. Paying. For. A. $16.80++. On. My. Shiok. Maki.

According to him, I was grinning from ear to ear. HELLO OF COURSE LAH I WAS TOO TOUCHED BY HIS SIMPLE GESTURES :)

Felt tad bit embarrassing if we only order 1 Shiok Maki, so I was given the choice to add a side dish! Tempura Udon :)

Whilst browsing their Menu, I realized that their dishes ain't that pricey EXCEPT for their Shiok Maki Generation. This Tempura Udon cost $9 only. It is considered cheaper than other Japanese Restaurants.

Bought 12cc on #safday @ $2/cupcake, including special ones!
#cheapthrill

Yellow submarines @ Bugis Junction

Although they are well-known for nacho cheese sauce, I still feel that Best Fries Forever serves the best cheese sauce! Not forgetting my Chocobanana O-Radar (fried crepe with Banana paired with Chocolate sauce) :D

d'good cafe with WL & YY
I undoubtedly chose the splendid big breakfast set!

Good Chance Popiah with my relatives on a random Thursday night
Spammed the sweet sauce like nobody's business LOL

Mattar Road Seafood Barbecue on a Saturday night with Dad Mum & Aunt

Cheapest crab you can ever find in Singapore (I think). We ordered 1 Chilli Crab, 1 White Pepper Crab, 2 bowls of rice and 6 Mantou for $73 only?! Meaning to say 1 crab cost around $30-$33. Awesome thrill for Crab lovers! I had 5 Mantou to myself, yeh I ordered another 6 Mantou aftermath :x

Queued for half an hour just for llaollao @ 313

All in all, $6.50 for a cup like this is pretty good in terms of their generous portion. Llaollao's plain yogurt tasted pretty good, something like yoguru's. However, I didn't like the idea of having different fruits & sauce in my cup. Their strawberries are damn sour, the lady sitting beside me had the same thoughts as well HAHA. Quite overrated, I'd rather get my $6.50 worth of Sogurt with Tiramisu, Nutella, Red velvet flavoured~

That's all for now, I guess. Maybe short updates like this is better! xx

Nanbantei

Gosh, I was yearning for some "atas" Japanese cuisine and here it is! (thanks to my Dad who struck lottery)

Can't help to dip my carrot with Nanbantei's special sauce - I'm not sure if there is a term for it. This is actually their form of appetizer, Yasai Stick $2. So if you are uninterested in their appetizer, don't leave it like this. The staff will serve Yasai Stick to each person by default so do remember to reject their appetizer. It's not FOC, lol.

Sake Sashimi $20
Raw salmon

I can never understand people who spent on Sashimi which I feel it's really overpriced. Just a few slices and it cost a bomb. Yes I know sashimi is a higher quality compared to other side dishes. However, I still don't get it. I'll rather use this $20 to spend on grilled yakitori/unagi etc

Negima $5.60
chicken with leek

Tebasaki $6.70
chicken wings

Asparagus Maki $6.30
Asparagus wrapped with pork

Ebi Tempura Soba $14
Soba with Prawn tempura (hot)

Unagi Kabayaki $21
Grilled Eel with sweet sauce

Among all the dishes, hands down to their Unagi Kabayaki! I'm not really a fan of Unagi due to their famous prices. This is the authentic Unagi from Japan!!! Those unagi served in Sushi tei/ichibanboshi can't even beat Nanbantei's~

That blue sleeveless vest is absolutely redundant. Can't help emphasizing that to him -.-

Saboten

"Saboten is well-known for serving the (probably) best Tonkatsu in Singapore and they are 1 of the largest Tonkatsu chains in areas like Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, HK etc"

On a random day, I spotted Saboten deals on http://www.deal.com.sg and pestered my Brother to purchase it LOLOLOL. Perks of having an Elder brother! I have thought of making a trip down to Saboten due to their quality of food as heard from others/internet, but was pretty hesitant due to the price range. P.S. The cheapest set I can find is $19++

Although it's considered pricey in my opinion, every set on the menu comes with unlimited refilling of Miso Soup, Rice & CabbageRice-lovers (I can only think of JJ), perhaps this is your ideal restaurant to dine in.

**For those who are using the deal voucher, 1 voucher is applicable to a single receipt ONLY. We overlooked this T&C so I sat with my parents while Brother sat with his girlfriend**

Hunwari Tenderloin Katsudon ($21/set)
2 Mini Pork Tenderloins with Saboten's Special Donburi Sauce over rice

Damn, they broke my egg yolk!!! >:( I certainly prefer being served with an almost perfect runny egg/any form as long as the egg yolk doesn't spill all over.

 Chicken Katsu Curry ($21/set)
2 Breaded Chicken Cutlet with curry sauce over Rice

Saboten Special Set ($27)
Consists of 1 half breaded Loin Katsu, 1 breaded Shrimp, 1 breaded mini Tenderloin Katsu & 1 Crab Cream Croquette

By now most of you should be wondering "What does their SET consists of?" Set menu consists of Rice, Miso soup, pickled Vegetables and set dessert. I'm so in love with Saboten's green tea flavoured ice cream! It is served on a chilled bowl and my sensitive teeth are hurting me!

FYI, prices are subjected to GST & SERVICE CHARGE.

Overall, they do have the quality standard. I love how crispy their Tonkatsu/Tenderloin is on the outside while it remains delicate on the inside. Service is great, we had their attention most of the time. Thanks to my brother for the opportunity to be able to validate Saboten's quality!

Update + Hada Labo hamper

Greetings! Time really flies, I didn't expect myself to pull through that 2 weeks plus for JY's first confinement. It was... amazing. Because when I fetched him 2 days ago @ Pasir Ris, the moment he kiss/hug/hold hands with me, it felt so weird. Seriously. Probably I hadn't been touched by any guys for >2 weeks and I already got used to it. :\

So yea my beloved Boyf is back from confinement! He is so silly. Just because he missed his girlf badly, he used his phone secretly to view my instagram pictures & ended up... kanna caught *sighpie*
I'm addicted to rubbing his head! HAHAHA DAMN NICE. IT'S LIKE RUBBING GRASS (CLEAN)

Yesterday, we spent our entire day @ Wild wild wet together with QP & E. Omg I love going to water theme parks with JY! Both of us are able to piggyback each other, play water games, always challenging him. Why? His only weakness is swimming. THE ONE & ONLY SPORTS I CAN WIN HIM!!! :P

Okay enough of my mundane life updates! Recently, I was involved in Hada Labo Focus group discussion. My remuneration: $50 worth of Hada Labo Products! The people are really nice, instead of asking us to carry the hamper back home (although it's not heavy at all), they opt for registered postage- which means I am allowed to shake leg @ home while waiting for the courier guy to knock on my door!

WHY ARE ALL THE COMPANIES SO NICE ONE. ALL REGISTERED POSTAGE. It makes me feel like opting for registered as well whenever I order something online!

What does the hamper consists of?
Hada Labo SHA Moisturizing UV Milk

As mentioned, this UV milk is 3-in-1 benefits: UV Protection + Hydration + Make-up base. Have been reading most positive reviews of this product, am going to try using this after I've completed my current sunscreen!

Hada Labo Hydrating & Whitening facial products (right - left)

I love miniature products because the packaging is so cute! Of course provided it's free la, if you wanna talk about cost then of course I'd rather buy the huge bottle for cost-saving purposes! Like what I've mentioned previously HERE, I dont use whitening products! Anybody who wishes to grab that Arbutin whitening package (consisting of Cleanser, toner and moisturizer) feel free to contact me. As. Long. As. You're. Residing. In. Singapore.

SHA Hydrating Essence

This product is to be used after applying their SHA lotion (or toner). According to Hada Labo, this essence intensely boosts& optimizes skin's hydration level. Honestly I have endless facial products leh, I really didn't expect that. Am so glad to receive free products from various company! If it ever works for my skin, I'll definitely write a review about the product FOC! Free advertising for them somemore although my blog views are pathetic. hahaha

Going to hit the sack soon! Tomorrow shall be a brand new week for me, I accepted that Temporary admin job located @ Woodlands on impulse. The thought of queuing up for MRT @ Jurong East seriously SUCKS but for the sake of $$$.. I shall do it. It's better than staying at home the entire week and let my brain rot, right?! :(

Pre-enlistment buffet dinner | Kuishin-bo

Finally another post with food pictures spamming!
(P.S. Image heavy)

Arranged for a buffet dinner with JY before he suffers in Tekong (hahaha). Initially I chose The Line @ Shangri-la hotel but I got hesitant due to their buffet pricing. Firstly, I choose this strictly because of free-flow lobsters, snow crab and many more seafood. BUT!! The selection of seafood is only available on Tuesday & Thursday, known as their Marine Harvest, free flow sparkling, white & red wines, draft beer, soft drinks & juices @ S$92++ (after GST is S$107.64)!  If you're following ladyironchef, The line @ Shangri-la hotel should be familiar. It is well-known for the best hotel buffet in Singapore with the most selection of food/desserts. Yeah but I'm just an Internee, I couldn't afford for Marine Harvest, so I switched to Kuishin-bo Japanese buffet dining! Both of us didn't regret switching to Jap buffet although it's our least preferred choice! :)

Oh on a side note, if you're considering to try out The Line, here's an useful advice. PLEASE make your reservation ONLINE. They have some discount deals if you book online with them. Some of them include:
  1. 25% Buffet discount
  2. 15% discount online reservation
  3. 35% senior citizen discount
  4. $36++ Lunch buffet deal
Of course they have their T&C that you have to comply, do check out their website for more information.

OMG CHAWANMUSHI <3

 Soup corner
Condiments for your selection of soup!

 Teppanyaki corner!
You have to drop your table pins into the bowl fyi
Their Tonkotsu soup base is mouth-watering...

Noodle selection

Sushi selection.
I love to take pictures of sushi!

Salad selection

Osaka fair food selection
They have this fair from a period of time, I love their Omelette rice with curry, but Im restricting myself from RICE. I can eat this at home, dont need to pay @ a high price HAHAHA

Fruit selection
Look at the shape of the watermelon! Quite creative right! Can help to save environment also. HAHA

They even have this Healthy corner (why ah. I think people who choose this corner is a little... not right)

Cold selection area!
 Fresh Salmon!
My favourite, snow crab! SO JUICY I CANT EVEN

Fried food selection!
They have food like Fried Tempura, Gyoza, Karrage, Soft shell crab, Takoyaki etc.
There used to be UNAGI. Where the heck is it now?! >:(

Let's proceed to outdoor BBQ selection!

Am loving their BBQ chicken wings & Tiger prawn! Yummy

HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT:
Cheese lobster

Free serving of lobster per customer for every reservation (applicable at GWC outlet, dinner only). The only T&C: Make your reservation before 3pm. Which means if you want to dine in with cheese lobster, you have to make a reservation with them/if you're a walk-in customer, this promotion isn't applicable to your table.

This is my 4th time visiting Kuishin-bo and I still remember my 1st trip vividly. Few years back (around 2009), they have cheese lobster @ their outdoor BBQ ok. FREE-FLOW. Sigh pie, now they restrict it to per customer. Why...

Last but not least, DESSERT selection:
Am loving this chinaware! NICE PRESENTATION RIGHT

Instead of filling up your usual round plate with dessert...
(Credit: link to the picture)

Overview of their dessert! Chocolate fondue is a MUST for every dessert buffet.

Chocolate cake! JY find this cake has a similar taste to Awfully chocolate
JY doesn't recommend this ningyo yaki. HAHA
& Everytime I walk pass their dessert table, I'll be popping their mini cream puff into my mouth. REALLY LEH. I think I ate around 15 cream puff. No joke. JY is my witness. HAHA

They have this shabu shabu pot on every table

What's a complete dinner without couple picture? :D

As I'm typing this, you're already @ Tekong, 0 hair left, sleeping in a bunk (upper deck). I promise I won't cry but I will smile because everyday is nearer to 27th Sept! I treat this Kuishin-bo dinner as our advance 2 years anniversary date as well. I bet I'll miss you a lot on 19th Sept. I know you'll only get to read this after your first book out (SMACK YOURSELF IF YOU READ IT BEFORE THAT. SWITCH OFF YOUR BLOODY 4G IF YOU STILL WANNA TALK TO ME) but I really want to announce how much I'm proud of you. If I were to enlist in Tekong, I will definitely threaten to commit suicide LOLOLOL. Really. Everytime I feel like crying, I'm constantly reminding myself you aren't enjoying your life there either, I know my boy doesn't want to enlist too but this is the requirement for SG guys. 我爱你!
I think you look more handsome with your hair. Now that you're botak, IT FEELS SO WEIRD TO LOOK AT YOU. Ok no offence x.x
