Wooshing my way down town (east)

Ever heard of Vanessa Carlton's song titled "A thousand miles"?
Thanks to C for the inspiration :)

Here's the lyrics edited by yours truly:

Wooshing my way down town (east)
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a ride
Through the slide

Both C and I were humming to A Thousand Miles while queueing for the rides!

Our heartfelt thanks to Si Hui from Sample Store for inviting us down to the launch party of Wild Wild Wet's new ride last Sunday!

Image from Wild Wild Wet

Arrived at the registration booth at 9am sharp and we were pleased to find the staff all dressed up identically! 👯

Thanks NTUC club for hiring such a cute and humorous emcee (as quoted by C haha)

And not forgetting the light refreshments provided by them 😛

The objective of this event is to hype the launch of The Woosh, Singapore's longest inflatable freestyle water slide as well as to promote the Seeing Double campaign and the special promotions offered right here at Downtown East! Scroll down to see how YOU can win a 2D1N staycation package at D'resort 😍

The sun was scorching hot on that morning and applying sunblock doesn't help us at all... Nevertheless, we had a good laugh thanks to the emcee (Urgh I didn't manage to catch his name) and there were 111 pairs present at the event!

Try spotting us :)

The long wait is over, we had the chance to break-free from our wristband and time to play!

I'm an avid fan of water theme parks and this is my Nth time visiting Wild Wild Wet. Although the escape theme park has ceased operations few years back, I appreciate the fact that Wild Wild Wet still exists and has expanded to fit in MORE thrilling rides! I'll be back to this water theme park in Mid-july with my friends again!

The Woosh at Wild Wild Wet - operating on School Holidays, Public Holidays, Fridays to Sundays only
Feel the bliss and the wind in your hair as you slide down this awesome inflatable ride that is 50m long! Valid for a limited time only!

Image from Wild Wild Wet

In the month of June and July, members of the public will have an exciting attraction to check out here. As mentioned previously, The Woosh is Singapore's longest inflatable freestyle water slide, where guests can slide down the entire length of 50m from a height of 4.5m in almost any way possible (more on that later). The dual lanes also mean that guests can challenge each other and compete to see who can slide further along the slide.

As reiterated, please be reminded that The Woosh is only operating on School Holidays, Public Holidays, Fridays to Sundays only.

Ready to slide down with your unique style...?

Ok I ran out of poses here HAHAHA

Basically I couldn't maintain my excitement la as you can see... I have not kept my bag in the locker 🙈

Ok 1 more picture before we get changed 😝

& we are ready to rock The Woosh!!!

While waiting for our turn to climb up the inflatable ladder, we had a great time chatting with the friendly staff to find out more about the ride.

(This are unofficial facts obtained from them, exclusive on my blog only 😅)
  • This isn't a permanent attraction at Wild Wild Wet, they will be gone after 30 July 2017
  • The staff are outsourced from another company - they didn't say that but I'm guessing that they are not part of Wild Wild Wet staff
  • The owner of The Woosh is an Ang Moh. He brought his inflatable slide to Singapore and we managed to spot him there! If you're lucky enough you will see this handsome Ang Moh guy. Kinda regretted that we didn't ask for a photo 😢
I think we got our sunburn while waiting for our turn eh...

We were not daring enough to challenge each other at The Woosh.... so we decided to slide down together in 1 lane 😂 Managed to video it down but I find it too embarrassing to post it here due to our contagious laughter HAHAHA

Overall I enjoyed this ride and reality hits me hard when I realize that this is just a temporary attraction... We had a good scream sliding down in our unique way and it would be better if the water current is stronger to push us all the way to the end of the slide.

Please note that adults are not allowed to play at the Kidz Zone area. Both of us tried sliding down but to get a verbal reminder from the lifeguard 😲 However, adults can enjoy the slide along with the kids. Alamak if that's the case why can't we slide down without kids?!

Cabana for rent

 Flamingo float is inclusive HAHA

For your information

Here are the rest of the rides that are not ready yet...

I always thought that the Free Fall slide (in yellow) is opened to the public but I just found out that the ride will be temporarily closed from 22 May 2017.

Moving on to the rest of the existing attractions at Wild Wild Wet:

Tsunami

The Waterworks

Professor's playground

Whether you are young or old, healthy or unhealthy, skinny or not skinny - you can't miss out on this pink and blue slide located at Professor's playground! I will never ever skip this slide as it is a short yet thrilling ride even for my age HAHA. Trust me, just try this once and let the kids go first if there is a queue 😄

Shiok River

My favourite attraction because I love to laze around...

This is not an attraction but a place filled with sunbathing lounge chair~

I am...

This post is seriously... Backdated till I can't remember the exact date. If i'm not wrong, it should be around August, 3 months back! Yes I have lotsa foodporn pictures so I'm trying my utmost best to clear them all! & I need to start drafting out my BKK trip with JY soon.

Celebrated XT's birthday at I am cafe, no that wasn't a typo error. I am cafe is an European Halal certified cafe, so for Muslim friends fret not!

Somebody had this Iced Latte/Cappuccino @ $5.90

BLT Sandwich @ $11.90
BLT - Bacon (Turkey), Lettuce and Tomato layers of crispy turkey bacon sitting on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes, sandwiched between ciabatta & served with classic Caesar salad

Fish 'N' Chips @ $15.90
English-style battered whole dory served with our signature thick-cut fries

It's understandable that we had to queue for approximately 30 minutes as it was peak hour for dinner on weekends. I had the BLT sandwich and it was great, value for money as it is damn filling! the remaining 3 had the same order - Fish 'N' Chips. 1 say it was all right, the birthday girl felt that their fish was great and the NS guy commented that it tasted horrible, one of the worse fish 'n' chips ever. In my opinion, their Fish 'N' Chips is acceptable, not that horrible lah.I felt that it was kinda overpriced for this portion.

They have free-flow ice water station with slices of orange instead of the classic lemon. Interesting concept.

Here comes the absurd part:

Initially we ordered 'I am..." platters @ $18.90 as the starters. I mean... this is the most expensive starters you can find on their Menu, and I expected it to be insta-worthy. Unfortunately, we cancelled this dish after numerous bad service with their staff. I knew that most reviews given to this cafe is about their awful service, treating the Chinese differently etc. We tried our best not to get swayed by those nasty comments online but this is totally unacceptable.

1. Our main courses had been served for a few minutes and the platter wasn't here yet. Requested from 1 of the waiters, he said that he'll check with the kitchen.

2. No updates from them. Okay fine, we continued chit-chatting and waited patiently. Tried to get some eye-contact with the waiter but to no avail.

3. Requested for our platters to be served from another waiter. An expected answer from him as well, will check with the kitchen/gave us a slight nod to acknowledge.

4. By then we have completed our individual dish and asked for WT's rainbow cake to be served.

Highly raved by many instagrammers due to the vibrant rainbow colours so WT just had to try it!

If I didn't remember wrongly, this slice of cake cost us ~$8-$9? It's too pricey and it tasted like a typical vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting. Edible though, just without the 'wow' factor and you won't be back for their taste. These are just insta-worthy but quality wise is no different from a vanilla cake. Okay before you lecture me about cakes, I am aware that rainbow cakes were originally made from vanilla madagascar bean or whatever you call it, so I can't complain much. However, for a slice that cost >$8 is unworthy!

No I didn't side track from the absurd incident. Continuing...

5. We got really upset by their service breakdown and I kinda reprimanded the staff (in the most demure way as possible...) for our platter. Well I just mentioned that "if you guys aren't serving our platter then please cancel the order. We requested for it to be served thrice, our main course are wiped out completely and to no avail?"

Kinda mad about it but on a bright note, we get to save money also. & the ultimate... XT asked them about our platter when our dessert is already here before my confrontation with them. The waiter said somewhere along the line, "Starters to be served after dessert", either that or he agrees to XT's sarcasm. LIKE WHUUUUUT.

Maybe they should not even have the selection of STARTERS. Starters are appetizers. Dont wish to probe much into this matter but yeh, we managed to cancel the order. It simply shows that they did not even prepare that dish.

Enough said, we're never going back to the cafe again. Not the worst cafe but definitely not worth for a second trip!

July Babies (excluding myself): Momiji Japanese Buffet

Supa models for that day (1 month backdated HAHA). Oh yeah see the lady in baby pink pom pom on her chest? That's Sum Hei Mun & she will be participating in SIT Welcome Bash 2014 @ Zouk on 12 September 2014, if you're attending the party PLEASE DROP YOUR "VOTE FOR MISS SIT" coupon to her! She's towards the cute/Eurasian kind so if she's your cup of tea, you should know what to do ^^

Click here for more details :)

Anyway, celebrated HM & C's 21st birthday at Momiji Japanese Buffet restaurant. It was more like a surprise for both of them, thanks to YY for brainstorming restaurants in Singapore with private room/dining with no additional charges. Yes, Momiji has private room for dining but it is only available at the IRAS outlet!

Here's our Tokyo dining room!

Feel free to decorate the room but do remember to tear-down after your celebratory occasion. This room sits up to 8 pax though... & it is pretty awesome to throw a birthday party with your closed ones instead of booking a hotel room. No minimum pax (subjected to availability due to crowds), no extra cost, just pay for per pax head!

Although it wasn't an extravagant party, we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest.

Buffet Spread:
Cold dish selection

 Fruits & Chocolateeee
(Pretty pathetic HAHA)

 Sushi spread!
Dessert selection
(their Eclair is... awful fyi)

Marshmallow is provided too ^^

Last but not least... Haagen Dazs Ice cream spread!

Price rate wise.. $37.80++/pax on a weekday dinner. After gst and everything it was around $44. The spread wasn't really appetizing. The hot selection wasn't even HOT. I guess they didn't reheat their food frequently, with the fact that the restaurant was not even 1/4 filled. The only selection that i'm extremely satisfied with is their ice cream spread. I spammed the chocolate ice cream, 1 freaking scoop of Haagen Dazs RESTAURANT cost around ~$8ish? I managed to scoop at least $24 worth!

Chawanmushi is not up to standard, fried chicken wings tasted good because it was pipping hot, yakitori was too hard & cold, snowcrab legs are great (as always), cereal prawns aren't that fresh but the cereal was crunchy.

Surprise slice of cake for the birthday girls but failed terribly. HM saw us sneaking in the cake when she was going for her last round of spread. :'( Nevertheless, I hope you guys enjoyed the simple dinner buffet!
