Day 1 in Hong Kong: Inn Hotel Hong Kong, Mak's Noodle, The Peak Tram

After our 2nd trip to BKK in 2015, we finally travelled to other places instead of the usual countries i.e. Malaysia and Thailand. I've documented most of our activities in HK so that I could share as much information as possible with you guys.

Managed to book a return SQ flight ticket for 300SGD/pax (there was an ongoing promotion and we could have secured the 240SGD, however the flight timing was not convenient for us at all).

Upon arrival, we purchased Octopus cards for the ease of transportation modes. Their Octopus card is just like our ez-link card BUT with additional uses like paying your food (almost every shop) and taxi.

Instead of taking their Airport express which is very costly - 90HKD which is equivalent to ~16SGD, we boarded the Airport Express Bus A21 from the airport bus terminal. Do bear in mind that their Airport express train does not bring us to Kowloon straight, we would have to change MTR lines before we could reach our destination.

ready to explore HK!

Taking their A21 express bus would cost you 30HKD only. It doesn't matter which bus stop are you alighting. For more information on the route and bus stops, kindly click here. This website is extremely useful and they even show the bus stop via google map.

The seats are very comfortable, just like SQ's and you can place your bulky luggage at the 1st level

There is a screen (with English version) to update us the bus journey.

I didn't expect this informative screen to be installed as I don't need to worry about missing my stop! Thank you HK for being tourist-friendly :)

We stayed at Inn Hotel HongKong located right beside Yau Ma Tei MTR Exit A2. You WILL reach the hotel lobby in less than 30 seconds (also depending on the length of your legs) from Exit A2.

Ground floor (also known as level 1)

Gound floor's front desk

Bear in mind that they have 2 reception counter for check-in. The counter is relatively small but their service is above average. They have friendly security guards as well and we never felt so welcome overseas.

When the front desk officer told us that our designated room is located at level 32, I can't wait to enter because I remember booking their City Vista (13sqm), also known as their smallest room yet they gave us the highest floor?!

It turned out that they upgraded our room with no additional surcharge.  I believe this is the Deluxe Harbour view room (16sqm) and we got the corner room woohoo. Complimentary upgrade definitely make my day better!

The view

The room is kept minimal and clean, I love the combinations of grey and white. Although the room is undeniably small (which is a norm in HK), I am absolutely impressed by Inn Hotel Hong kong as their housekeeping and service standards are worth complimenting. Most importantly, I felt very safe staying in the hotel.

Due to space contraints, the safety desposit box is built into their window ledge.

Again, they do not have any wardrobe in the guestroom. However, there are plenty of hangers provided.

I'm satisfied with their toilet amenities EXCEPT for that tiny sink (as shown above) & their shower curtain.

Firstly, I can't even place my face under the tap. I had to "scoop" water and pat it on my face during my entire stay. Secondly, that plastic shower curtain is such a pain in the ass because of the low quality material and there's no way we can prevent the curtain from getting wet. URGH.

Their towels are replenished daily but sometimes I saw trivial stains on it. Oh talking about stains, we saw blood stain on the bed linen (luckily it was located at the end of the bed so I have no complaints) as well.

After we settled down, we wanted to walk to London Restaurant - as recommended by my parents for some dim sum treats but little did we find out that they only serve dim sum until a certain timing. Since we have to meet up with the tourist guide at Central MTR Exit K at 6.00pm, we took our first MTR ride from Mongkok to Central. Yes, we can walk to Mongkok MTR from our hotel as well.

Our first purchase at HK, apart from our transportation fees lah

Take the Exit D2 from Central MTR & follow the google map. You'll reach the mid-level escalators in less than 5 minutes. FYI, this is the world's longest outdoor covered escalator system. I remember in one of the Running man episodes, they came to this iconic place for a challenge haha.

Chanced upon Mak's Noodle somewhere in central and gave it a try!! This wasn't in my itinerary though

First dining experience in HK :)

A glimpse of their menu, thank God for the english translation!

Wanton & dumpling in Soup @ 43HKD

Wanton Noodles in Soup @ 39HKD

Their portion is not huge but I couldn't finish mine due to the excessive Egg tarts from Tai Cheong *insert hearts emoji* I'll post the pictures of my favourite egg tart later!

However, I love their shrimp so much. It is very fresh and the soup tasted delicious too. However... the noodle was mediocre. I can't believe I paid ~$7 for my Wanton Noodles in Soup.

approx. S$15??
They didn't charge our chinese tea lah haha

As we had plenty of time to spare, we checked out their 7-11 for my craving and YESSSSS they do sell CP chicken teriyaki in a box - you can definitely find this at Bangkok's 7-11!

JY tried Lan Fong Yuen's famous pork chop bun @ 24HKD I think.

& my favourite Egg tart from Tai Cheong Bakery!!! 1 for 8HKD.
Heck just buy because I can't try it in Singapore.

Our next destination: the Peak tram! As mentioned earlier, we met up with the Klook escort at Exit K. They distributed the physical tickets to us (depending on which package you purchase via Klook) and even brought us to the peak tram entrance.

If you ever try to search for directions on how to walk from Central MTR, trust me, it can get quite complicated for people who hasn't been to HK. Hence, I chose Klook to save all the hassle and purchasing from the app is cheaper than the original price.

We purchased our HK Sim card from Klook as well, for 10SGD. The instructions provided by Klook is very clear and certain vouchers can be redeemed instantly i.e. Ocean park. This would definitely be a wiser choice as you wouldn't want to pre-order your tickets on a stated date and if the weather is not going to be merciful enough, your ticket is wasted.

For those who are interested to sign up for free with Klook, please click on my referral code to get S$4.40 off your first purchase: https://www.klook.com/invite/9EO59 .

I'm not being paid for this, I just wanna share the awesome travelling app with you & get my well-deserved S$4.40 too ;)

Thanks to the Klook's privilege, we have a separate queue from the public and we managed to get in first!

The ride was enjoyable but I can't stop thinking about that Final destination movie :(

It was very foggy on the day we visited so I didn't bother to take any pictures...

Sky Terrace

However, the wind was freaking strong at the terrace, I never felt so overwhelmed like this haha.

YES, there is another outlet at the Peak. unofficial ambassador HAHA

Took MTR back to our hotel and had supper in our room. Oh yes I love to eat in our hotel room, probably due to the air-con hahaha!
