Kokomama Marketplace: Salted Egg Yolk Croissant

Credits: www.campus.com.sg

We had our simple valentine's dinner at Kokomama marketplace as JY wanted to try the salted egg yolk croissant @ $6.50! Basically, the marketplace consists of Bingsu, french bakery and the usual main course/appetizers/drinks.

The bakery section was having a promotion of buy 2 get 1 free, damn I totally regretted it after I decline the on-going promotion. Their salted egg yolk croissant is heavenly and I wouldn't mind having a few more!

Need to mind my image here if not I would have grabbed it with my bare hands...

Frankly speaking, I would rate their salted egg yolk 7/10 and the croissant for 9/10.

The salted egg cream was smooth and creamy but it kind of taste like curry and too salty in my humble opinion. However, I have a strong taste for flavour so I would rate the filling 7 out of 10 haha. As for the croissant, it was very crunchy and flavourful and it goes well with the salted egg (although it was over salty).

Moving on to my main course - BBQ unagi rice bowl @ $10.90

I did not finish my entire bowl as I am not a fan of red pepper chilli and vegetables. I managed to pick out the unagi and tamago :P In terms of worthiness, I would recommend this dish as it is only priced at $10.90 and you get a reasonable amount of unagi slices accompanied with Tamagoyaki.

However, I would not order this again in future as this is definitely not a dish whereby I would like to have it repeatedly.

Also, you get to choose your gravy: Chilli Crab, Curry or Mushroom.

Lesson learnt: never get the chilli crab gravy as it does not go well with unagi...

Moving on to JY's main course - Japanese Curry combo (karaage) @ $7.90

The curry gravy is decent enough for me to handle. However, their karaage is unacceptable in terms of tenderness and the skin is too thick...

Nevertheless, JY managed to finish his dish even though I find that the quality is mediocre. That's a blessing in disguise - he is easily satisfied with ANY food. Not to mention that the Japanese curry rice cost only $7.90, it would be great for those who are on tight budget yet craving for Japanese cuisine!

I'm so glad that Daily scoop is located right beside Kokomama, their Hazelnut and strawberry is soooo good! I couldn't stop myself from eating although I was bloated.

All in all, I have been making another trip down to Kokomama just to get their Kokolava salted egg croissant, priced at $6.50 only. I wouldn't try their main courses again as I would prefer to top up a few dollars more e.g. Sushi Tei or ichibanboshi to get a more scrumptious meal.

Probably the best Chocolate Bar in Singapore

Ever chance upon Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at Vivocity, right beside the Level 1 concierge counter? The restaurant seemed upscale in my opinion but their quality simply explained the worthiness behind the price.

Hazelnut Cream Banana Toffee Crepe @ $17.90
Caramel Ice cream, chocolate crunchy wafer balls, milk chocolate ganache
 Underneath the crepe~

Crystal Sugar Churros Fondue @ $16
Muddled raspberries & a choice of two dips: pure dark, milk or white chocolate

There isn't any raspberries on the churros plate as we detest it so... it's like a get-out-of-my-sight thing lol

Shared the above-mentioned items with YY & WL after a hearty meal at Sushi Tei. I was extremely full on that day and I couldn't really mention anything much about their Churros as I'm not a fan of it. In actual fact, I loathe churros. I felt as though i'm biting onto SUGAR only. However, I will still grab a few bites just to satisfy my sweet tooth.

As for the crepe, it was awesomely delicious, except for the fact that the crepe skin has turned cold. I didn't expect crepe to go well with Ice cream. The taste of their caramel ice cream is acceptable and not too sweet, as I'm also not a fan of caramel.

Classic European Chocolate Fondue (tasting for two) @ $25.90
Choice of 2 chocolate sauces (Pure milk, dark or white)
Served with toffee sauce, bananas, strawberries, chocolate chunks cookies, marshmallow and fluffy chocolate sponge cake for dipping

*Just realized that there's too many 'chocolate' which I have to type in this post

This time round, I shared this fondue with my man.

Why him?

Because he is my servant and I will stay put and wait for the perfect melted marshmallows (dipped into the chocolate sauce) served by him ^^

This item is the best! Look no further and just order this combination. I think there's a need for me to end this post or else I will be digging for chocolate-related items in my fridge! My sweet tooth got "activated" just by publishing this post...

Next up, I will be sharing with you guys on my Korea trip, although my itinerary is extremely relaxing (perfect for family trip including elderly), I hope somewhat my post will be beneficial for all!

Forty hands on our Fourth Valentine

Coincidence indeed, having our brunch at Forty Hands on our 4th Valentine's.

Thank you for planning painstakingly for our Valentine's date. I understand that we shouldn't appreciate each other on the 14th February every year... I have the tendency to remind him on special occasions as an excuse so that he will take the effect to plan! In actual fact, he has always been accommodating to my sudden cravings and my mood (although he finds it a pain in his ass) and I'm subconsciously appreciative of that haha.

Thank you for ensuring that my blister ain't spoiling my mood :)

P.S. My favourite pair of wedges decided to fail me on Valentine's day..... I have absolutely no idea of why do I feel the discomfort when I have no problems with it on every other day! :(

Once again, #myslaveforthatday #lookathisveins #muscleguy #hunk #benshermanmodel

Salmon Hash @ $19
Poached Salmon, creamy potato, mustard sauce, pan-fried onion, homemade toast, fries

Eggs benedict @ $17
served with: Organic bacon, sauteed baby spinach with side of spicy roasted potatoes

I chose the eggs benedict and my verdict is 9/10 man! I'm really loving the combination of Eggs benedict and bacon. Their organic bacon is awesome as it doesn't taste as salty as those typical bacon you get outside. Salty food makes my mouth dry and I am pleased to know that Forty hands is health conscious enough to serve organic foods.

That's not all, I cannot explain how much I love their spicy roasted potatoes. I felt that this must be their famous side dish as you can't find it elsewhere! Just go for their spicy roasted potatoes. You won't regret it just like I do.

Egg yolk oozing out~ #thatmoment

Feeling hungry yet? :)

I can't wait to organize an outing with my clique so that I will recommend Forty Hands! I have a new craving after Valentine's - SPICY ROASTED POTATOES! Strongly recommended for potato lovers.

Anyway, Forty hands is within walkable distance from my house and yes, more excuses for JY to fetch me from home.

Valentine's gift from JY

Hello? I was the most elated woman on that day. JY isn't that kind of boyfriend who is romantic, give surprises and he always depend on google to find solutions to make me happy.

There he is, folding 50 hearts with unique hidden messages, not to forget his personalized $50 voucher :) Can't believe I teared upon reading the first 2 messages although I don't find it touching at all right now....... opps.

Anyhow, thank you for your plans (with backup plans as well) on Valentine's day, your gift, your TLC, your everything. You always wonder why I repeat the same question over and over again. That's because I love to hear your answer. Trust me, my heart still skips a beat whenever you mention about growing old together and I'm the one for you. The phrases that you use may sound cliche but I will always be the dumb woman who believes in fairy tales HAHAHA :p

Made use of the complimentary Boat tour ticket when we purchased Alive museum together with E ^^

You're always capturing my unglamorous actions and threatened not to delete the images. I absolutely didn't expect somebody who loves my hideous look and insist that I'm pretty in every single way :)

I love you, since the day you decided to leave your comfort zone (zai nan).

Please take care of yourself when I'm away from Singapore. No women allowed >:(

Taste Paradise

Brother brought us out on PH (National Day) for Dim sum @ Taste Paradise to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Yes I know it's too backdated but yeah. I can't bear to see my photos chunk at 1 corner and not sharing it on my blog so here I go...

Pu-er tea for 6 pax ($16.80)

Excited Mama & Papa waiting to try out this atas dim sum restaurant

Cheong Fun with Shrimps @ $6.20

This is just a typical Rice noodle roll that you get from any dimsum stalls, nothing special except for the price lololol

Har gao @ $5.80

Same goes to this item, typical Har Gao where I can find it easily at 126 or Swee Choon

Prawn and Mango roll @ $5.60

Well this roll is the new kick. Not every dimsum place serves sweet Mango with fresh prawn. The perfect combination simply melts in your mouth with that crispy soft skin on the outside.

Crispy fried Fish skin @ $9.80

Didn't really try this dish so I have forgotten the taste :P

Xiao Long Bao @ $9.60

... SERIOUSLY? I just realized the price of this freaking 4 XLB priced at almost 10 bucks. Anyway it's a "tradition" to order XLB anywhere. However, their XLB isn't that worth the price, just like those typical Paradise Dynasty ones, but on a pricey side. Okay lah at least their XLB is better than Din Tai Fung's, as I really dislike DTF's xiao long bao. What's there to rave about when you got Paradise Dynasty legend XLB?!

 Steamed Custard Bun @ $5.80

Another must-have for dimsum. Their custard buns are very filling! This is more delicious compared to Swee Choon's, as Swee Choon's skin are quite thick actually.

Deep fried beancurd skin @ $9.80

 Fried Spring Roll @ $5.80

Daebak! Awesome.

Pumpkin Pastry @ $4.20

Century Egg with Lime @ $8.80

Their lime taste like sorbet. Awesome combination to go with.

Taste Paradise famous XO Carrot Cake @ $7.80

1 sentence to sum it up: Best carrot cake invention, ever. Except the fact that they have dried chilli pan-fried together :( I even forced myself with this dish despite the spiciness.

Combination with Suckling Pig @ $42

Thanks to my brother's generous treat, if not I highly doubt I'll get to taste this atas dish without him! I know that metal spoon is redundant in this picture but I ain't got time to prepare/adjust the props before taking a picture. My stomach is growling like mad.

Fried Rice with Tobikko Fish @ $20

This is probably not the insta-worthy picture but THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Hands down to this best fried rice that yours truly ever tasted! Yep, but at a damage of $20 -_-

All in all, Taste Paradise is only suited for those rich Tai Tai who are seeking for High-tea. Our total damage (I didn't take picture of all the items) for this celebration is $215. If you are roaming in Ion Orchard yet Taste Paradise is too costly for you, fret not. Paradise Dynasty (Yes both of them are from the same Paradise group) is just few restaurants away, at the same level. Be prepared to queue during peak hours.

Anyhow, a scrumptious high-tea calls for mahjong session and this is how I ended my day with them!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loving JY's smile here, didn't know that he is that handsome. Hello Shuai Ge ^^

#throwback to catch up session with YY & WL @ Holland! We need to meet up more often!

Thank you E for the double scoop Hei Chocolate @ Greenwich outlet

That's like journey to the North-east with semi sponsored cab back home :D THANK YOU AH JY *wink wink* More throwback photos to be updated soon! In the midst of sorting out my BKK trip pictures. Oh no I need another getaway soon from this stressful cum fast-paced country.

Tiramisu (Hero) + Window (Woods)

Cafe hopping with CF 3 months back! Oh my this post is so backdated

Am loving their interior design with that vintage feel

Getting ready to order with Sir Antonio

Can't remember this dish - it was filled with cheese & bacons with sauteed mushrooms at the bottom

 Jayne Mac & Cheese ($8.90)

Chunky Mushroom Soup ($6)

& not forgetting their famous MommaHero ($7.50)

Prices are exclusive of 10% Service charge. If you wanna try their MommaHero, I'd suggest to takeaway instead of dining in (with that extra pastel saucer with teaspoon) as they do charge you for that additional 10%.

Food wise, chunky mushroom soup was good, I love the thickness. I mean, anything is better than Campbell's standard. Unless I'm sipping Campbell's mushroom soup at home. If you get what I mean... The I-forgot-the-name is mediocre, nothing special. Lastly for their Mac & Cheese, initially it tasted pretty all right for the first few mouths but I got so sick of cheese after that. I'm an absolute fan of cheese so if I find it overloading, it simply shows how bad it is.

Bear in mind that I am judging their food items based on the price. Service wasn't exceptional. I don't understand why should we pay for service charge when we are instructed to order and pay at their counter. I had to refill my ice water myself when I even paid for it. They seriously need to do something about it. Tried googling for Tiramisu Hero's reviews and realized most of the negative feedback: SERVICE isn't up to the standard. Well... I would say that it wasn't pleasant at all given the fact that we are paying that 10% extra.

Checking out their beautiful restroom :D

All in all, I'd only revisit them for their MommaHero takeaway. Words can't describe how much I love their tiramisu! Even thought of ordering online for my special flavours i.e. Horlicks, Ovaltine and Milo. However, after trying them, I still feel that the Original is better!

Windowsill is just around Tiramisu Hero so we decided to satisfy our sweet tooth over their pies!

Even their door handle is a tree-shaped!

S'mores ($8)
Filled with gooey milk chocolate pudding and sticky dark chocolate fudge, topped with fluffy toasted marshmallows & their home-made graham crackers

First things first, I LOVE MILK CHOCOLATE. A bonus point for those in black. OMG. The goodness can be compared to cadbury's. Secondly, I lovelovelove their home-made crackers. It's damn soft yet crunchy at the outside. However, it is too costly and I won't make a special trip down again just for the pie. Unless they are on sale? $8/pie of this size is seriously... unacceptable for me.

Nevertheless, I treated my tummy to a scrumptious dinner with lots of desserts and I'm really impressed! Desserts craving satisfied (Y)
