Bangkok Part II

Please read Bangkok Part I post here: http://mshuilingg.blogspot.sg/2014/12/bangkok-part-i.html

Continued from Day 2 night time after Siam exploration. Got so drained out by the endless shopping (My boyfriend is a shopaholic, I'm the one who is always finding for seats!)

Took a ride to Saphan Taksin and we almost got lost at the Pier station. There are numerous queues to different routes. Forunately, the Asiatique logo is pretty huge, once you step to the Pier site, keep to your left and you'll see the longest queue with Asiatique logo. Because the ride is free of charge, it should justify the crowd haha

Although I get to sit on boats in Singapore, their night view is astonishing! Pictures couldn't do justice to their tranquil country place.

I remember we took a selfie with the famous ferris wheel but I can't seem to find it :(

Asiatique the Riverfront is the biggest lifestyle project in Asia on the banks of Chao Phraya River. It is one of the famous night malls in Bangkok. Their target audience is mainly the tourists so don't expect cheap bargains here. I felt as though I'm shopping at Isetan/John little due to their steep price.

Our Banana Prata with Chocolate sauce + condensed milk @ 60-80 baht ??? I can't remember

Yes, those prata from Pratunam market is definitely cheaper than the ones at Asiatique. I'm too lazy to search @ Pratunam as I always get lost in that market!

JY managed to get some loots from Asiatique though! Kinda regretted not buying that personalized couple bracelet/necklace with him :'( Oh and I only manage to purchase an unique tote bag for 300 baht. Whattttttt SGD12 for a tote bag when I can one at Cotton On for less than $6!

It's okay, I reminded JY repeatedly to not just focus on the price but for the experience and souvenir's sake! Yes talking about souvenir, I spent about 700 baht at Naraya whilst waiting for the rain to stop. We wanted to take the boat back to Saphan Taksin but the weather isn't merciful enough. We took cab back to our hotel with the massive jam.

Introducing my daily supper dosage:

Aino Crepe @ the basement of Terminal 21

Posted this picture on my previous BKK post but I wanna post again! Yummy! It's the soft crepe skin, not the crispy kind

Day 3
Woke up to this, not those high storey view but I still love it.

Pestered JY to have the atas breakfast @ some nearby hotel. If I'm not wrong, it's the Key Hotel located near Terminal 21.
Can you spot the Eiffel Tower?

My scrambled eggs with bacon/ham, alongside with baked beans
JY had scrambled eggs too but with Salmon
The meal comes with a selection of bread! I chose Baguette :)

& we ordered Hot Chocolate for... 150 baht?

Utterly regretted dining there, the bill comes up to a total of ~700 baht? When we only had the usual breakfast set. NO SIDE DISHES LEH. With this amount, we could have ate at some atas Japanese restaurant at Siam Centre with more orders than this. #k I need to stop nagging, let's move on.

We hit the Platinum mall at 10am+ and shopped till 4pm? I could only remember 1 word to describe our shopping experience there:

E.X.H.A.U.S.T.E.D.

Had our late lunch at the foodcourt and it was so heavenly! 1 Pad Thai for 40 baht that is very reasonable! JY even had 2 main courses please. I think he ate some duck noodles and nasi lemak (somewhere along that line).

"Cheap leh! Not full yet!" Jianyang exclaimed. HAHAHAHAHA
JY was very pleased with our Day 3 itinerary, most of his loots were from Platinum Fashion Mall and look at his wide smile!

As I regretted not buying something in Day1, I pestered him to make a trip down to Union Mall after shopping at Platinum. Sorry, I wasted his time as we could do something new on Day 3 night. To my disappointment, the colour which I wanted was sold out and I bought nothing.......... totally wasted trip man.

Had our Day 3 dinner at some random Japanese restaurant, Union Mall

 I had Teriyaki Don

 JY's

My favourite Tori Kaarage!

Total amount was around 500 but definitely less than SGD20. #cheapthrill

My loots for Day 3. I love it more compared to my first trip to BKK with family! (My expenses for this recent trip is more costly than my family's trip so yeh)

After settling down with our supper, bathed and packing of our luggage, we went for MASSAGE. It was so wonderful. I almost slept while relaxing my body~ JY screamed for a bit as this was his first time getting massaged. I even heard some customer snoring away. Kudos to those Thai Massage girl with toned muscles!

Day 4

The day where we dreaded the most, heading back to Singapore. Nevertheless we aren't going to stay in the hotel! Being the early birds, I suggested to take Tuk tuk to Pratunam Market and finally got to taste the famous Wan Ton Mee stall, highly raved by all Singaporeans!

This is the one!

Read from somebody's blog and she commented that you know you've entered the right stall when you see 90% of the customers are Singaporeans. TRUE STORY.

Bring me back to BKK :(

My all-time favourite street snack from BKK: FRIED CHICKEN. Even better than KFC at only SGD1 per drumstick!

After our last minute of browsing through the Market, we took cab to the airport and +65 bound :(

My family waited for me at the Airport patiently and yay! Feeling so blessed to see them standing outside the Arrival gate :) Love you guys! Missing my Sister here plus my BIL and my nephew, Luke though T_T

That's all for my BKK post, can't wait for another trip next year! :)

Bangkok Part I

Travelling period: 26 October '14 - 29 October '14

If you saw the departure photo I posted on instagram, you'll know this introduction below:

"Finally this long-awaited vacation trip with JY that was almost 10 months late. Initially we had tickets to BKK back in Mid January 2014, but due to the riot incident, we had to forgo our trip & fortunately we could get a refund for our accommodation. We bought the air tickets on sale so they refunded back the airport tax only. We lost around S$150 per person okay! What a waste!"

On a side note, please be informed that you are eligible to claim your airport tax amount IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Even if you no-show on your departure date/last minute cancellation despite no refund will be made due to promotion price etc, you should receive your airport tax amount no matter what - Thank you E for the general knowledge :)

Making full use of natural lighting before departure HAHA

Ok this is funny, as both of my hands are grabbing onto my phone, I asked JY to wave his hand as an indication of goodbye - sent this photo to my Daddy before the aircraft departs

And while sorting out my BKK pictures yesterday, I realized his gesture is damn... fake please. It seemed like he is showing his palm line instead of waving. LOL

Too lapsup wear + face + hair while travelling. I'm a lazy woman.

Goodbye +65 for that 4 days~ It was a great time. Actually what am I saying, ANY vacation is good, as long as we're not in Singapore!

"Welcome to the land of smiles - BKK"

Tourist mode: ON

Day 1

It was very fascinating enough to appreciate their city while riding their subway train.
First selfie in BKK!

Waiting to be checked-in @ SilQ hotel, my 2nd time staying with them!

We made use of BKK's public transport almost everyday, we'll only cab back when I'm totally drained out. I know that their cab fare is relatively cheap but I just want to let JY have a taste of the city's transportation instead of cabbing everywhere! In addition, we can also save money for more buys.

Anyhow, our Day 1 Itinerary is pretty tight as we could only check in @ 2pm, on a Sunday. Which means we could only visit Chatuchak Market on our arrival date. Travelled from Asok station to Mo Chit straight. Yes our hotel is THAT accessible, it's a 5 minutes walk to Asok AND Sukhumvit station.

First stop: Chatuchak Market

We only have approximately 2 hours plus to comb whatever we can find here. It was a grumpy day for yours truly as we're racing with time, weather, crowd and woman's monthly affair. It started pouring after we arrived and got drenched! Haha we assumed that the chances of getting caught in the rain isn't huge.

*took 1 scoop of the coconut icecream*
*realized that I didn't snap a picture*

 Hunkiee man :D
That hunk guy's girlfriend :)

Chilled at a random cafe that serves beverages and simple snacks like Pancakes. It was awsome, any food/drink from BKK is awesome like seriously. I can't find any awful food I swear!

As I was still having a terrible cramp (it was my 2nd day....), my mood swing was so horrendous and we left Chatuchak market in 2 hours? JY was whining about the limited time he had for food but yeah he is understanding enough to give in to me.

Second stop: Union Mall

FOOD! Singaporeans will never miss A&W Restaurant out whenever they are in BKK.

Food verdict? Their twisted fries (just like Macdonald's version) and famous root beer float is appetizing but I disliked their ice cream waffle. The waffle seemed to be those ready-made kind. Yes I know it's a fast-food restaurant, so I don't expect much too! However, I doubt i'll include A&W into my next BKK itinerary list.

I love union mall! Better than chatuchak in terms of human traffic and weather. I really need air-con when I shop especially when i'm experiencing any discomfort. The only negative part about union mall is that you can't really find cheap loots like 100 baht and most of them don't accept your bargains even if you buy more.

JY took this picture when i'm resting my precious legs in the subway

He loves to take picture his girlfriend secretly but I'll always know what is he thinking. HAHAHA woman is sensitive when it comes to photos.

Finally, end of day 1! Out of the entire 3 nights spent in BKK, we'll always have supper in our room. Yes, not on the bed like how typical Singaporeans will do. I have minor OCD so I forbid this "unhygienic" action haha

My everyday supper from Terminal 21 - Coco banana crepe for 65 baht YAY

Day 2

I need a vacation badly right now as I'm looking at these pictures!
I want to wake up with this view!
*okay I spotted my bra so don't need to remind me*
 All ready for Day 2

First stop: Siam discovery, Siam Paragon, Siam Centre, Siam Square, MBK

Planned to have our breakfast at Siam Centre shopping mall but they are only opened from 10am onwards! Should have slept in more...

 Spotted Food Republic!

Wanted to try this but i'm too full for desserts :(

Anyway you are definitely in the right shopping mall for food hunting @ Siam Centre. You are spoilt for choices man. The same goes for Siam Paragon!

We were their first customer of that day

 "Mineral water also wanna take"

(In)patient JY waiting for his order to be served
 #foodporn #cheapthrills

Ordered this as a substitute of Shiok Maki at a much cheaper rate compared to SG!

 JY's mega bento set *drools*

My katsudon!

The total bill was about 600 baht which I find it DAMN REASONABLE. Well their target audience ain't the locals la because they can easily find a replacement at the street stalls for less than 50 baht per meal. If you can afford 600 baht = ~S$24 on this scrumptious Japanese meal, WHY NOT?!

I'm amazed at Siam Centre's restroom!!!

So modern and classy right!

Check out our Wide Selfie mode from Note4

Roamed around Siam Square and we almost got lost here.

Step 1 candid lor

Not forgetting dessert hunt - After you!!

My first time trying their Honey toast and bammmm. It was scrumptious please. Even JY liked it as he ain't an avid food critic haha
 Insta-worthy picture :D

We had Nutella Shibuya Toast. Luckily we didn't choose the baby size else it won't be sufficient for both of us. Although this is a pleasant choice, I think it'll be great if you can share 1 toast with someone, the portion will be just nice. If not, you'll get pretty bored of the sweetness after several spoonful of their toast.

In addition, I ordered their Nutella Banana Crepe! IT WAS SOOOOOO SINFUL BUT HEAVENLY. No words could suffice the taste man.

Can't wait to be back for another round of After you! I need to visit this cafe at least TWICE per vacation lor.

Endless tourist shots but i'm not gonna spam here!

For your information, MBK is classified as one of my least favourite places in BKK. Electronics and more electronics. A waste of my time man & they love to cheat foreigners' money please! I bought my fish eye lens from Union mall at 250 baht, when I checked for the pricing at MBK, the guy dared to quote 500 baht for the same product.

If you are a fan of electronics or you don't mind getting conned by them, do include MBK in your itinerary. Well the only fact that I didn't regret while making a trip down to MBK is their exterior design of the mall. It's quite chio la...

Awesome spot for tourist/selfie shots

#jianyangwashere
#mdwashereatMBK

And we finally took their expensive mode of transport - Tuktuk (JY's first experience)

We were battling with time again as our 2nd stop is Asiatique Riverfront Night mall! We had to rush back for a quick rest before heading down to this inaccessible mall. Anyway I'm so glad that JY loved the TukTuk ride although it cost 150 baht for a short distance.

Okay, shall stop here as this post is getting lengthy, part II post to be updated soon ^^
